Terrance B. Lettsome International Aiport (EIS): Fly into Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS), Beef Island, Tortola. There are international flights via San Juan, St. Martin, Antigua and other local connections with Liat, Winair, InterCaribbean, Seaborne and Cape Air.
On arrival, it’s just a short walk or two-minute taxi ride to the Trellis Bay ferry dock where you can catch the regular Scrub Island ferry to our base, which takes ten minutes. The ferry is free of charge for our customers and runs from Trellis Bay between 6:45am to 10:30pm and from Scrub Island between 6:30am and 10:15pm. Customers coming from St. Thomas, Charlotte Amalie, can get the ferry to Tortola and take a 45-minute taxi ride from Road Town Ferry Dock to Trellis Bay to pick up the Scrub Island ferry.
TRANSFER FROM AIRPORT TO BASE
You can reach Scrub Island with a free shuttle transfer from Trellis Bay Ferry Dock. The dock is a short walk from the airport terminal, but we recommend booking a taxi for the two-minute journey (about USD 9 per person). Please contact our customer service team to arrange a taxi transfer or you can pick up a taxi in front of the airport.
The free shuttle service to Scrub Island operates at 45 minutes past the hour between 6:30am until 10:45pm from the Trellis Bay Ferry Dock. It runs at 30 minutes past the hour from Scrub Island. The journey takes 10 minutes. Additional complimentary or private shuttles can be organized/booked, please contact customer service for advice.

No, you only need experience on similar boats you'd like to charter. If you don't have much experience, we are happy to assign a skipper for a day or as long as you think you need to get you up to speed.
The currency is the U.S. dollar. Visa and MasterCard are accepted in the main tourist areas but not in rural locations. The banks in the island are Banco Popular, Scotia Bank, First Caribbean and more. Almost all have ATM's. Most hotels accept traveler's checks.
US citizens and Europeans need a passport valid beyond their departure date. A visa isn’t required for visits less than 30 days but you may need to show return flight tickets and that you have sufficient funds for your stay. Other citizens need a visa to enter the BVI. Talk to us to make sure you have the correct documents before you travel.
There is free Wi-Fi in our marina. Some of our fleet have a router on board and you will be able to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot - you can pay per day or per week. There is internet access in some cafes and Wi-Fi hotspots, but you may need to pay.
Night sailing is not allowed without authorization of the base manager. A cruising permit and National Marine Park permit are mandatory and you will need to pay for them at our base. Mooring buoys from the National Park are for daily use only. A fishing permit is required to fish in the BVI, visit the government website for details.
The sailing conditions for the British Virgin Islands are excellent for novice sailors, with gentle and near constant winds most of the year, calm seas at 3 to 4 feet and line of sight navigation.
The best time to visit the British Virgin Islands is between December and May when trade winds are the most steady and temperatures are comfortable, although the BVI has pleasant weather for most of the year.
Temperatures in the BVI are around 77°F to 82°F all year round. August is the hottest and sunniest month and sea temperatures are warmest in September, ideal for BVI charters. The low season is summer time, when it is less crowded. The hurricane season is between June and October, which is also the wettest month.
