Fly to Philip S.W Goldson International Airport (10 miles from Belize City and 118 miles from the base). There are daily flights from various destinations during the high season. Fly onwards to Placencia Airport (PLJ) - The airport is located directly on the Placencia Peninsula about three miles from Placencia Village and 5 min by car from the base.

The Belize dollar is the currency. Visa and MasterCard are accepted in the main tourist areas but not in rural locations or smal businesses. Some ATMs accept foreign credit cards, although they will dispense Belize dollars. Banks are open from Monday to Saturday (8am to 3pm).
Visitors need a passport valid beyond their departure date. A visa isn’t required for visits less than 30 days but you may need to show return flight tickets and that you have sufficient funds for your stay.
Depending on zones with cellular antenna, mobile phones and Internet will work, don’t forget the roaming fees! You will find WiFi hotspots in bars and restaurants, you can also try local internet cafes.

Temperatures in Belize are sub-tropical and warm year-round averaging 80ºF. January is the coolest month and May is the hottest, although the trade winds temper the humidity. The best time to visit for your Belize sailing vacation is in the dry season between November and mid-April. The wettest season is between June and November, particularly in the jungle. Visiting Belize between late May and early June means you can avoid the crowds and the rainy season is only just starting.
